Abstract: This paper, to accompany the corresponding poster, presents reduced-form outputs from the Wind Deployment Systems Model (WinDS) that can be implemented in other models with less- detailed wind power modeling capabilities. Other models will be able to use the reduced-form results to improve the accuracy of the wind power portion of their models. WinDS is a multiregional, multitime-period, Geographic Information System (GIS) and linear programming model of capacity expansion in the electric sector of the United States. WinDS is designed to address the market issues related to the penetration of wind power into the electric sector. These principal market issues include the geographic dependency of the resource, access to and cost of transmission, and the intermittency of wind power.
