Abstract: Battery electric vehicle (BEV) adoptions in the United States have increased dramatically since the end of 2010. This study examines the emergence of the BEV market, focusing on the impact of state-level incentives on new BEV registrations. Using a national panel data set for the United States spanning the 2011-2013 period, we find evidence that state financial incentives and charging infrastructure impact requires additional study as market develops.
